Apollo Hospitals set to open 4 hospitals

Apollo Hospitals, the leading healthcare provider in Asia is all set to commission 4 hospitals in the country. It will open speciality hospitals in Hyderabad and Secunderabad and a cancer hospital in Kolkatta. It has opened a 350 bed hospital in Bhubaneshwar with an investment of Rs. 1200 million. Apollo Hospitals have initiated a programme to open 16 new hospitals across the country that are likely to become operational by 2011

Apollo launches ‘Health Superhighway” project

Apollo Healthcare launches information superhighway project with help of IBM to provide back office operations for doctors, patients and pharmacies in the country. The company has also approached the Knowledge Commission’s Unique Identification Number project to integrate health records with them. The project will help in applications in healthcare like telemedicine, mobile applications and initially revenue will be generated from the participating doctors and hospitals.

Apollo Hospitals has achieved finalised financial closure for their Rs 1,500 crore expansion plans

The Chennai based group had raised Rs 300 crore through equity, Rs 200 crore through internal resources, Rs 120 crore through family warranty and rest of the money through loans. The cost of adding one bed is about Rs 50 lakh, said Reddy. Of the Rs 1,500 crore plan, Rs 500 crore has already been invested in 2008-09 to acquire lands and for adding 200 beds (to make a total of 7,450). In 2009-10, the group will add another 844 beds. The remaining part of the plan will be carried out in 2011. The group also plans to set up a medical college in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, on 100 acres and 50 acres of land, respectively. The hospital chain is also planning to set up an Apollo Health City in Hyderabad, with an investment of Rs 150 crore. It is also in the process of setting up a multi-specialty hospital at Bhubaneswar and a Children’s Hospital at Chennai.

Apollo Hospitals to set up hospitals in rural area

 

Apollo Hospital, the leading group of hospitals in urban centres is now planning to set up a chain of 250 hospitals in semi-urban and rural area with an investment of Rs. 125000 million. In the first phase, 25 such hospitals will be set up including 5 in Gujarat. Each hospital will require investment of Rs.500 million. The company is also setting up a R&D centre in Ahmedabad with association of Cadilla Pharma and Stem Clyte. It has plans to set up para medical centres and to invest in stem cell research and medical equipments.
