Healthcare providers have formed Healthcare Federation Nathealth

Similar on the lines of industry body Nasscom, the private sector healthcare service providers, medical technologists and health insurance companies have joined hands to launch Nathealth (Healthcare Federation in India). The federation has 46 member companies that include Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, Fortis Healthcare, Manipal Health Enterprises and Max India Ltd. Headquartered in Delhi, it aims to play a pivotal role in empowering Indian healthcare and address quality healthcare. The body will also work to help shape policy and regulations besides supporting best practices and promote accreditation.

Apollo Hospitals to set up specialty hospitals by 2015

Apollo Hospitals is planning to invest Rs. 4000 million to set up 10 hospitals specializing in cardiac care and cancer. These hospitals will be set up at a cost of Rs. 400 million and will have 50-75 beds and will be set up in Kolkatta, Varanasi, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi. These hospitals will become operational by 2015.

Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Bill 2010 introduced in India

Very soon India will have a law specific to clinical facilities which will cover private clinics including doctors who practice individually. The bill which came into act in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim and all Union Territories. The law prescribes minimum standard of facilities and services and will provide categorization for different classification of clinics. According to ministry sources, it also helps to create a national registry of such establishments.

Sahara Groups is in talks with Apollo for technical collaboration


Sahara Prime City Ltd , a Sahara Group venture which has planned to set up 217 secondary care hospitals and 3 super speciality hospitals is in talks with Apollo Projects group for management of hospital operations. The group has already signed deal with Apollo for its Lucknow hospital. The total investment for these projects will be Rs.60000 million.
