Beams Hospitals plans expansion of MAS (minimal access surgery) centres

Beams Hospitals, a Mumbai based hospital chain, which specialises in minimal access surgeries (MAS) is planning to expand 5 more centres across India. Currently, the group has centres in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Bangalore and Indore. Each centre will entail an investment of Rs. 60-80 million. It may be noted, Amit Pragma Venutres, a Mumbai based investment firm had invested an undisclosed sum in this venture. The company is also working with corporate and medical community to popularize this idea. In MAS type of surgeries, a patient can recover quickly and in 40% of cases, can return home same day without the need for hospitalization.

Vasan Healthcare is expanding its network

Vasan Healthcare is expanding its network with an investment of Rs. 6600 million. It plans to set up 45 new ophthalmic hospital and 10 new dental hospital this fiscal. The company is in the process of raising funds through private equity. Currently, the network has 80 eye care hospitals and 25 dental care centres.

AMRI Hospitals to set up new 3 hospitals

AMRI Hospitals belonging to Emami and Shrachi group is planning to set up 3 new greenfield multi-speciality hospitals in Kolkatta, Bhubaneshwar and Burdwan. The 3 new hospitals will come up with an investment of Rs. 5500 million. The Bhubaneshwar hospital will have 300 bed while Burdwan will have 100 bed. It has also installed a new PET-CT 64 slice and SPECT-CT. The company had a makeover with a new identity with a new logo.

HealthCare Global to set up 400 bed hospital near Bangalore airport

HealthCare Global (HCG) a South Asian major chain of cancer hospitals which has 350 oncologists on board is investing Rs.1500 million to set up a 400 bed hospital in the health city in Devanahalli, near Bangalore International airport. It will provide treatment for paediatric cancer, bone marrow, leukaemia with high technology. Karnataka government has allotted 6 acres of land to HCG in the healthcity during the Global Investors meet. It plans to set up 30-35 such small cancer centre in tier II & III cities. The problem it faces are high human costs to make the specialists to live there, which is partially offset by cheaper land and building costs. The hospital group has recently unveiled- PET Myocardial Blood Flow (MBF) System that offers clinicians a non-invasive method to determine true myocardial blood flow and accurately assess the need for revascularisation procedures such as stenting and bypass surgery. With MBF, it can also foray into cardiology diagnosis
